Leonardo DiCaprio & Brad Pitt Confirmed for Tarantino Movie: See Title & Synopsis

Meet Sharon Tate's next-door neighbor -- and his stunt double!

Quentin Tarantino's next movie is at least tangentially connected to the murder of Sharon Tate. It was just revealed that the movie is called "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," and it will star Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.

Tarantino described the movie as "a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don't recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor...Sharon Tate."

Margot Robbie is reportedly hoped to play Sharon Tate, who was murdered by members of the Manson Family. If she is cast, that'll be a reunion for Robbie and DiCaprio, who worked together in "The Wolf of Wall Street."

Tom Cruise was supposedly eyed for a role, but his name isn't mentioned here so it's not clear if he's in, out, or still hovering by the door. According to Collider, Tarantino also reportedly wrote a supporting role with Al Pacino in mind, but he's not attached yet.

Tarantino shared a statement on the project:

"I've been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old. I'm very excited to tell this story of an L.A. and a Hollywood that don't exist anymore. And I couldn't be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio & Pitt as Rick & Cliff."

Both Pitt and DiCaprio have worked with QT before -- Pitt in "Inglourious Basterds" and Leo going for all the range available in "Django Unchained."

"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is set to be released worldwide on Aug. 9, 2019.
