Who will be the next James Bond? Rachel Weisz, who is married to current 007 Daniel Craig, doesn't think it should be a woman.
Instead, she wants new characters in new stories for actresses to portray.
"[Author Ian Fleming] devoted an awful lot of time to writing this particular character, who is particularly male and relates in a particular way to women," Weisz told The Telegraph.
"Why not create your own story rather than jumping on to the shoulders and being compared to all those other male predecessors? Women are really fascinating and interesting and should get their own stories."
Speculating on the next James Bond star is almost as fun as watching the movies themselves. In recent years, there's been an outcry to diversify the franchise — either by casting an actor of color (Idris Elba!) or a woman (Gillian Anderson! Priyanka Chopra! Emilia Clarke!).
And while, yes, of course women should get their own stories, it would be a major coup if James Bond were a woman; another long-running British franchise, "Doctor Who," recently cast Jodie Whittaker as the first woman in the titular role.
Craig has confirmed he'll return for Bond 25, which is slated for release Nov. 8, 2019. But last August, he told Stephen Colbert, "I think this is it. I just want to go out on a high note." So, let the betting begin.
