"Wonder Woman" is slaying at the box office, but Gal Gadot's salary apparently has a long way to go to match what Henry Cavill was paid for "Man of Steel."
Cosmpolitan notes that Gal Gadot was paid just $300,000 for "Wonder Woman," while Henry Cavill's first outing in 2011's "Man of Steel" earned him a cool $14 million (according to Forbes.)
That means (if everyone is crunching the numbers correctly) Cavill was paid 46 times what Gadot was. And since the two were both "unknowns" at the time of their casting, there really seems to be only one way to interpret that huge pay gap.
But... Vanity Fair weighs in with a source that insists that Cavill's $14 million "certainly isn't for one picture. That's insane." The source tells VF that "if she signed a deal similar to Cavill's, the 'Wonder Woman' bonus checks will soon be rolling in — and the sequels could be even more lucrative."
Another VF source claims, "If you do an apples to apples comparison, she was paid at least as much as he was."
The $300,000-per-movie figure was first reported by Variety in 2014 when Gadot signed a three-picture deal to appear in "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League." With the huge success of "Wonder Woman," that figure now seems criminally low. Let's hope those big bonuses are happening.
And since "Wonder Woman 2" apparently isn't part of her original contract, Gadot deserves a massive raise for the next one.
For what it's worth, $300,000 is what Chris Evans was paid for his first go-round as Steve Rogers in Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger," per CBR.
