Netflix Eyes Dark Comedy With 'Game of Thrones' Star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau: Report

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards - ArrivalsNetflix wants a piece of "Game of Thrones" fan favorite Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

The streaming service is in final talks for the global streaming rights to the upcoming film "Small Crimes," Variety reports. The black comedy, which stars Coster-Waldau, is set to premiere in March at the annual SXSW festival.

In the film, Coster-Waldau plays a disgraced ex-cop who served six years in prison for attempted murder. When he gets out, he aims for redemption, but inadvertently finding more trouble. He ends up entangled with a corrupt sheriff, a mafia baron, and a vengeance-seeking district attorney. It sounds like quite the sticky situation.

Coster-Waldau is best known for playing the complicated "Game of Thrones" character Jaime Lannister, but he has appeared in a long list of films over the years as well. He most recently starred in 2016's "Gods of Egypt," and his resume also includes 2009's "Virtuality," 2008's "New Amsterdam," 2001's "Black Hawk Down," and more.

"Small Crimes" is directed by Evan Katz from a script he co-wrote with Macon Blair. Here's hoping we can watch it on Netflix soon.
