Benedict Cumberbatch, aka the Internet's Boyfriend, induces a passionate thirst in his many, many fans. Well, Cumberbabes, you're about to get thirstier.
The actor graces the cover of Vanity Fair this month, and to accompany the main story, he filmed this little scene where he drinks and performs magic with a bottle of water. Has water ever been hotter?
Seriously, though, Cumberbatch — who stars in the upcoming Marvel superhero flick
"Doctor Strange" and a new season of
"Sherlock" — is amused and a bit bewildered by the Cumberfrenzy. Like when he's told that a fan imagines him eating apple fritters shirtless, he said, "I don't know, it makes me giggle. I don't look at myself in the mirror and go, 'Yeah, absolutely! I see what they're saying!' I see all my faults and everything that I've always seen as my faults."
The hysteria surrounding him does trouble the actor, though, especially conspiracy theories that his marriage to stage director Sophie Hunter and their son, Kit, are PR stunts. "I think really it's to do with the idea that the 'Internet's boyfriend' can't actually belong to anyone else but the Internet. It's impossible he belongs to anyone but me," he said. "And that's what stalking is. That's what obsessive, deluded, really scary behavior is."
Might need to dial the Cumbermania down a few notches, people!
