"When you love someone, you have to be careful with it. You might never get it again,"
Jake Gyllenhaal menacingly tells Amy
Adams in the new full-length trailer for
"Nocturnal Animals."
Love is wielded as a threat in the trailer for the psychological thriller, which was directed by Tom Ford and based on Austin Wright's 1993 novel "Tony and Susan." Things start out promisingly enough when Adams runs into her former crush (Gyllenhaal). The two fall for each other again and get married. But they end up divorced, with Adams admitting that she left her ex in a "brutal way."
Adams gets a book manuscript from Gyllenhaal. And the movie weaves between her real life and the story told in the novel.
There are twists and turns, threats and chilling characters — and it's all a total mindf**k for Adams. The movie looks beautifully composed, with many artistic shots. And the rest of the cast is excellent, including Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Isla Fisher, Armie Hammer, Laura Linney, and Michael Sheen.
"Nocturnal Animals" opens in limited release Nov. 19 and nationwide Dec. 9.
