"
Harry Potter" fans may be wishing they had use of Hermione's time-turner today, after Bruce Springsteen revealed that he wrote an original song specifically for a "Potter" flick -- and filmmakers never used it.
The singer-songwriter spilled the beans about his lost "Potter" contribution in an
interview with BBC Radio 2 this week, chatting with host Simon Mayo about the discarded track, titled "I'll Stand By You Always." Springsteen confirmed the song's existence, but remained mystified as to why "Potter" producers never put it in a film. (The specific movie it was meant for was not mentioned.)
"It was pretty good," the singer told Mayo, laughing as he recalled the bizarre experience. "It was a song I wrote for my eldest son. It was a big ballad that was very uncharacteristic of something that I'd sing myself. But it was something that I thought would have fit lovely."
Springsteen added that he'd still "like to get it into a children's movie of some sort, because it was a pretty lovely song." And we'd certainly be curious to hear it, knowing that it was once destined to soundtrack the adventures of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Alas, we'll have to wait until The Boss makes a deal with some other filmmakers first.
