Owens and his rise to become of the greatest track and field athletes of all time is the subject of "Race," which debuted its first full-length trailer today. The biopic follows Owens (Stephan James of "Selma") from his early collegiate success to his participation in the Olympics. Along the way, though, Owens faced racial prejudice, as well as pressure from the black community to boycott the Nazi-run event.
Owens's story has always been an uplifting one, and the trailer is appropriately stirring. And like last year's "Selma," it shows how far race relations in America have come - and how not enough has changed.
"Race" also stars Jason Sudeikis and Jeremy Irons, and opens in theaters February 19.
