The "Karate Kid" is all grown up — but old rivalries die hard.
"Cobra Kai" is a sequel series from YouTube Red that reunites Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) over three decades from when they first faced off off in the All Valley Karate Tournament.
In the first teaser trailer, it's clear that while both men have matured and changed, they still share an enmity toward each other:
While Daniel is now a successful car dealer and family man, Johnny has experienced setbacks and disappointments. As a fresh start, he re-opens his old dojo and takes under his wing a troubled teen named Miguel ("Parenthood's" Xolo Maridueña). But Johnny also has to contend with his own son, who rejects his "no mercy" philosophy. And Ed Asner guest stars as Johnny's old-school dad, who undoubtedly has some sarcastic wisdom to dispense.
"Cobra Kai" will stream on YouTube Red sometime in 2018.
