Disney and Lucasfilm have finally revealed the official plot synopsis for the upcoming "Star Wars" spinoff flick "Solo: A Star Wars Story," though of course, there's a slight twist: In keeping with the companies' recent penchant for absolute secrecy, it doesn't really tell us too much that we didn't know already.
Still, the release of this new intel -- as vague as it may be -- is further confirmation that audiences are in for a thrill when learning more about the young titular hero, played this time around by Alden Ehrenreich ("Hail, Caesar!"). And the references to Han's seedy origins in "a dark and dangerous underworld" -- not to mention his first meetings with Chewie (Joonas Suotamo) and Lando (Donald Glover) -- certainly have piqued our interest.
Here's the full synopsis:
"Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in 'Solo: A Star Wars Story,' an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the 'Star Wars' saga's most unlikely heroes."
What we're most curious to see, though, is how the director's credit will be assigned, since Ron Howard famously took over as helmer after Disney fired original directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller. (And after the pair had nearly completed work on the flick.) That may be yet another secret that the studio will keep until the film finally hits theaters.
"Solo: A Star Wars Story" is slated for release on May 25.
