Guys, we live in the timeline where "The Boss Baby" is a 2018 Oscar nominee. That happened, and we can't go back and change it now.
The 90th Academy Awards nominations just came out on January 23, and there were a few snubs and surprises raising eyebrows on social media. Christopher Plummer, Greta Gerwig, Jordan Peele, and Mary J Blige are in. James Franco is out.
But it was the animated feature category that earned more than a few spit-takes when it was revealed that "Boss Baby" made the cut, but "The LEGO Batman Movie" (among others) did not:
Animated Feature
- "The Boss Baby"
- "The Breadwinner"
- "Coco"
- "Ferdinand"
- "Loving Vincent"
What kind of sorcery is this? Fans were confused, especially since "Boss Baby" was hardly a critical or even audience favorite, despite strong box office numbers:
The Boss Baby. Cancel the Oscars.
