No One Can Believe 'The Boss Baby' Got an Oscar Nomination (Sorry, 'LEGO Batman')

Guys, we live in the timeline where "The Boss Baby" is a 2018 Oscar nominee. That happened, and we can't go back and change it now.

The 90th Academy Awards nominations just came out on January 23, and there were a few snubs and surprises raising eyebrows on social media. Christopher Plummer, Greta Gerwig, Jordan Peele, and Mary J Blige are in. James Franco is out.

But it was the animated feature category that earned more than a few spit-takes when it was revealed that "Boss Baby" made the cut, but "The LEGO Batman Movie" (among others) did not:

  • "Ferdinand"
  • "Loving Vincent"

What kind of sorcery is this? Fans were confused, especially since "Boss Baby" was hardly a critical or even audience favorite, despite strong box office numbers:
