Animated movies are ready to draw their swords and duke it out for an Oscar.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the list of 26 films that are eligible in the Best Animated Feature category. Of the 26, at most five could receive a coveted nomination.
One of the frontrunners is Pixar's "Coco," which hasn't even hit theaters yet. Many of Pixar's projects have received a nomination (though they did not get one in the last two years, with "Finding Dory" and "The Good Dinosaur" shut out).
"The Breadwinner," produced by Angelina Jolie," is also on the list and has earned positive notice for its tale of a young girl who disguises herself as a boy to support her family in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
Oscar nominations will be announced Jan. 23 and the 90th Academy Awards will be broadcast March 4.
