'Pet Sematary' Remake Brings on Directors

Two directors have been charged with resurrecting "Pet Sematary."

Variety reports that Paramount has hired Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer ("Starry Eyes") to direct a remake of the classic 1989 adaptation of Stephen King's novel.

The original follows a family who moves into a home next to a cemetery where the creatures don't stay dead or buried. The horror movie was a hit and spawned a sequel in 1992.

The remake comes in the wake of the blockbuster success of another King remake, "It," which broke box office records last month.

In fact, the director of "It," Andy Muschietti, spoke out about his desire to remake the movie himself.

"My affection for 'Pet Sematary' will go on until I die," he said. "I will always dream about the possibility of making a movie."

Widmyer and Kolsch teamed to direct the horror/fantasy indie film "Starry Eyes" and have also directed episodes of MTV's "Scream."
