The Rock on Running for President: 'It's a Real Possibility'

'The Fate Of The Furious' New York Premiere - Outside ArrivalsHello, Mr. President ... Rock?

Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, has toyed with the idea of running for political office before. Last June, a Washington Post column suggested him as a candidate, which Johnson said was "fun to read." But in a new GQ profile, the "Fast and Furious" and "Baywatch" star is starting to sound pretty serious about it.

"A year ago, it started coming up more and more," he says. "There was a real sense of earnestness, which made me go home and think, 'Let me really rethink my answer and make sure I am giving an answer that is truthful and also respectful.' I didn't want to be flippant — 'We'll have three days off for a weekend! No taxes!'"

But now, Johnson says, "I think that it's a real possibility."

And even though a reality star did ascend to the highest office in the land, Johnson knows he has some work to do in shaping up his policy credentials. He's registered as an independent, did not endorse either candidate in the presidential election, but is against Donald Trump's travel ban. He does want "better leadership," however.

Well, now we really smell what The Rock is cooking — presidential dreams.
