Tom Hardy is being hailed as hero for his quick work in chasing down a moped thief in London in a way that rivaled any action movie.
The Sun reports that the "Mad Max: Fury Road" star ran after the kid who had crashed a stolen moped, even "vaulting walls," in his pursuit. According to the British paper, the actor then grabbed the culprit by the scruff of the neck and patted him down for concealed weapons.
Witness Arun Pullen, 22, told the Sun, "It was mental, like he'd switched to superhero mode in an action movie."
According to Pullen, two boys jumped a red light on the (presumably) stolen moped and crashed into a car. "Tom must have been walking down the road. He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious. If the kid had been dumb enough to resist I reckon Tom would have given him a good hiding." ("A good hiding" would be Britspeak for "a good thrashing.")
The witness added, somewhat unnecessarily that Hardy "clearly isn't a man you mess with," saying, "I think he even checked the kid's ID before cops took over." Thorough! The actor performed a citizen's arrest on the lad, whom Arun described as looking "wrecked and in shock."
The route, which the Sun has helpfully mapped out for us, "was like an assault course," Pullen said.
According to the Sun, two suspects were arrested on suspicion of theft and taking a vehicle without consent.
Pullen's girlfriend told the paper, "I'm a big Tom Hardy fan and there was no mistaking him. He looked as mad as he does on telly." (The actor just wrapped his first season of the period revenge drama "Taboo" on FX.)
Tom Hardy's spokeswoman declined to comment.
You could say he got The Drop on the Lawless thief, then declared "This Means War." (Sorry!)
