Here's How 'Frozen' Originally Was Going to End

Frozen"Frozen" nearly turned out to be a completely different movie.

The cast and crew of the hit animated Disney musical have hinted at the changes made from the first drafts to the final version, but now producer Peter Del Vecho revealed the movie's original ending to Entertainment Weekly.

"So when we started off, Anna and Elsa were not sisters," he explained. "Elsa was a self-proclaimed Snow Queen, but she was a villain and pure evil — much more like the Hans Christian Andersen tale. We started out with an evil female villain and an innocent female heroine and the ending involved a big epic battle with snow monsters that Elsa had created as her army."

In the original ending, Prince Hans turns out to be the true villain, and Anna has to convince Elsa to be on her side in saving Arendelle.

But soon, producers, director Chris Buck, and co-writer Jennifer Lee realized the ending wasn't satisfying because there was no "emotional connection" to Elsa. That led to Buck and Lee suggesting Anna and Elsa be sisters, which led to changes in the final act.

"One of the things Chris Buck had in most versions of the film was a moment where Anna's heart was frozen and needed to be thawed," Del Vecho said. "Chris said, 'Does it always need to be true love's kiss that solves that problem? Does it always have to be the man who comes in and rescues the female? Could it be something different?' and that led to a different ending."

Sisters forever!
