Carrie Fisher, 'Star Wars' Actress and Author, Dies at 60

Fisher suffered a heart attack on Friday, December 23 during a flight from London to Los Angeles. Paramedics met her plane at LAX airport, and she was rushed to a local hospital. A family spokesman released a statement on behalf of Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, confirming that Fisher passed away at the hospital on Tuesday morning.

"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning," the statement said. "She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."
