"Hidden Figures" is due out in January, and the film shines a light on three brilliant African-American women: Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Janelle MonĂ¡e). As we can see in the new trailer, released Wednesday by 20th Century Fox, the biopic shows just how hard the trio had to work to become part of the team that made John Glenn's game-changing orbit around the Earth possible.
The preview is inspiring, to say the least. It highlights the women's journey across racial and gender lines to play a key role in the space race. We see them fight to be recognized, even when doors literally close in their face.
"Hidden Figures" is directed by Theodore Melfi and also stars Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell, and Kimberly Quinn. The film hits theaters on Jan 6.
