The real-life home that stood in for 4 Privet Drive in Little Whinging, Surrey, England is actually located in the suburb of Martins Heron, near Bracknell, Berkshire, England. The three-bedroom house -- which, yes, actually does have a cupboard under the stairs -- is currently on the market for £475,000 (approximately $619,000).
According to the Daily Mail, the house was only used as a shooting location for the first film, before a set replica was built for the rest of the films in the series that featured the home of Harry's Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and cousin Dudley. It's undergone a bit of an interior facelift since the flick, with the listing noting, "Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac location, this detached property has recently undergone complete renovation to an extremely high standard." Amenities include a remodeled kitchen, a large fenced-in backyard, and a prime location less than a mile from the nearest train station.
No word on whether or not prospective buyers can expect owls to pop up (or letters to come down the chimney), but it couldn't hurt to inquire.
