It's been a rough few days for the cast and crew of "
Suicide Squad," who've been weathering some harsh reviews of the flick ahead of its release Friday. While diehard DC fans have
come to the flick's defense -- and even suggested shutting down review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes -- those involved with the film have taken the high road, insisting that they're proud of the movie.
Star Cara Delevingne couldn't help but take a dig, though, at the critics who've been trashing the film,
giving Reuters a piece of her mind while walking the red carpet at the film's London premiere this week.
"The critics have been absolutely horrific, they're really, really horrible," she told Reuters. "You know, I just don't think they like superhero movies."
The actress, who plays Enchantress in the flick, admitted that "this movie isn't perfect," but told Reuters that it was made for the fans.
Critics would certainly agree with the "not perfect" assessment, giving the film an average 27 percent rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
A new report suggests there are a bunch of reasons for the film's flaws, including lots of reshoots, incoherent competing edits, and a rushed script process.
But as Delevingne said, this movie is for fans, and it seems that they're responding so far,
flocking in droves to Thursday previews to give the flick an impressive $20.5 million in preview receipts, an August record. "Suicide Squad" is on track to make about $140 million this weekend when all is said and done.
