Jai Courtney Denies Report on 'Suicide Squad' Adding More Humor

'Die Hard - Ein Guter Tag Zum Sterben' Germany Premiere"Suicide Squad" is indeed shooting more footage, (Captain Boomerang) told Entertainment Tonight, but it's not to add "funnier" scenes.

That was the report/rumor on the street, with a source saying every joke in the DC film was in the trailer, and since fans loved the trailer, Warner Bros. wanted reshoots to add more humor to lighten the tone of the film.
But not so fast. When ET's reporter asked Jai about reshoots to make "Suicide Squad" funnier, he said:

"I think there's plenty of that in it. I wouldn't say we're going back to make it funnier, there's some additional action stuff that we've been doing, which is pretty dope. Yeah, really we're just kind of adding in that sense."

He added that you "can't believe everything you read" in terms of the rumors out there.

Here is is, saying all that and more:

Some cynics probably still suspect there's an element of tone-lightening to the reshoots, since "Batman v Superman" was so earnest and dark and that was a complaint from several viewers. Then again, that may just be an assumption from Monday morning quarterbacks who think DC/Warner will want to veer closer to Marvel's more humorous formula because Marvel has been doing well with both critics and audiences, and the DC/Marvel tone war must continue until we all die of exhaustion.

"Suicide Squad" opens August 5, 2016.
