What's New on Netflix, TV, Digital, and DVD/Blu-ray This Week: March 14-20

At a loss for what to watch this week? From new DVDs and Blu-rays, to what's streaming on Netflix, we've got you covered.

New on DVD and Blu-ray

"The Big Short"
Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt star in this acclaimed financial fraud dramedy, based on Michael Lewis's bestseller. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Editing) and it's out on DVD and Blu-ray on March 15. The Blu-ray combo pack has more than an hour of bonus content, including behind-the-scenes interviews with the filmmakers and author, plus five deleted scenes.

Here's a behind-the-scenes clip with Selena Gomez and Anthony Bourdain explaining their roles in the film; this bonus feature is available on the Digital HD and Blu-ray releases:

"Brooklyn"
Saoirse Ronan earned an Oscar nomination for her lead role as young Irish immigrant Ellis Lacey, who lands in Brooklyn in the 1950s. The charming romance was up for Best Picture, and you can catch it on disc this week. The Blu-ray includes 11 deleted and extended scenes, six featurettes, and commentary by director John Crowley. The DVD has everything but the 11 deleted and extended scenes.

"Game of Thrones" Season 5
A week after HBO dropped that amazing Season 6 trailer, it's offering a chance for you to catch up on the previous season at home. The DVD and Blu-ray both include four deleted scenes, 12 audio commentaries with cast and crew, "A Day in the Life," "The Real History Behind Game of Thrones," and "Anatomy of an Episode: Mother's Mercy" (aka the finale). The Blu-ray includes three more features.

New Video on Demand, Rental Streaming, and Digital Only

"Concussion"
In this sports drama based on a true story, Will Smith plays Dr. Bennet Omalu, the Nigerian immigrant and forensic neuropathologist who diagnosed a dangerous new brain disease linked to playing football. The NFL was not pleased, to say the least, but the issue is still a hot topic today. "Concussion" comes out on Digital HD on March 15, with the Blu-ray and DVD to follow on March 29. The digital release includes nine deleted scenes; the featurette "Inside the True Story," where viewers meet the real people who inspired the film; "Crafting Concussion," where cast and filmmakers share a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film; plus two digital-only features.

Check out this exclusive clip, with Will Smith talking about "the gift and difficulty" of shooting on location in Pittsburgh, where the events of the film took place:

"The Hateful Eight"
Quentin Tarantino's latest explosion of cinematic wonder and controversy arrives on Digital March 15, before heading to disc and On Demand March 29. Special features include two featurettes, "Beyond the Eight: A Behind-the-Scenes Look," and "Sam Jackson's Guide to Glorious 70mm." According to TwitchFilm, viewers will get the shorter release version at around 168 minutes, rather than the longer version with the overture and intermission.

"Anomalisa"
The genius that is Charlie Kaufman returns as writer and co-director of this inventive stop-motion work of art, which was Oscar nominated for Best Animated Feature Film. It's out on Digital March 15, then On Demand March 29, and Blu-ray May 3. David Thewlis voices the lead character, Michael Stone, a husband, father, and noted author, who meets a woman on a business trip (Lisa, voiced by Jennifer Jason Leigh) and gets a glimpse of what he's been missing in his life. The Blu-ray Combo Pack with Digital HD includes an in-depth look at the filmmaking process with Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson.

TV Worth Watching

"The Americans" (Wednesday on FX at 10 p.m.)
The Jennings are back! Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys return as our favorite secret KGB spies in Season 4, which starts March 16. Thirteen more tense, emotional, complex, and challenging episodes are headed our way. Season 3 was just released on DVD last week, so get yourself caught up ASAP. It's so incredibly worth it.

"Colony" (Thursday on USA Network at 10 p.m.)
Please say you're watching "Colony." Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callis are fantastic as married parents on opposite sides (collaborator vs rebel) of the ongoing battle in near-future L.A., after a mysterious occupation by ... something extraterrestrial. The tense first season ends March 17 with Episode 10, "Gateway." This show has a criminally small viewing base, but at least USA already renewed it for Season 2, so any cliffhangers will be resolved ... hopefully.

"How To Get Away With Murder" (Thursday on ABC at 10 p.m.)
It's almost time to say goodbye to Season 2 of ABC's twisty legal drama, starring the Emmy Award-winning goddess that is Viola Davis. There will be a Season 3, but until then, catch Episode 15, "Anna Mae," on March 17.

New on Netflix

"Marvel's Daredevil" Season 2 (Netflix Original)
Get ready to meet Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher and Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios when Season 2 readies itself for Netflix streaming on March 18. Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, the blind lawyer-by-day who fights crime at night, and you can check out all the trouble that awaits him in these two trailers:
Netflix is releasing five other originals this week, including Season 2 of the British drama "Happy Valley" on March 16, and these four titles on March 18:

"Pee-Wee's Big Holiday" (starring Paul Reubens and Joe Manganiello)
• "Jimmy Carr: Funny Business"
• "The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show" Season 2
• "My Beautiful Broken Brain"

Here's the trailer for that last title, a documentary following a woman's recovery after suffering a stroke:
