Olivia Wilde Says She Was Deemed 'Too Old' to Star in 'Wolf of Wall Street'

On "The Howard Stern Show," Olivia Wilde revealed that she was turned down for the role of Naomi Lapaglia in "The Wolf of Wall Street," the wife of Leonardo DiCaprio's Jordan Belfort, which eventually went to Margot Robbie. Wilde's agent told her she was too "sophisticated" for the part.

"I was like, oh, that sounds nice ... and then I found out later that they actually said 'old,'" she recounted. "'Sophisticated' might be a code word in Hollywood — for 'old.'"​

At the time, Wilde was 28. Robbie was 22, and 16 years younger than DiCaprio (in real life, the characters are nearly the same age).

Wilde isn't sweating it, though. In fact, she didn't have to audition for her starring role in HBO's "Vinyl" since Martin Scorsese had already seen her "Wolf of Wall Street" tryout. And on Twitter, the actress called out her praise of Robbie's performance:
