This exclusive featurette focuses on the main character, Josh Brolin's Eddie Mannix, the general manager and vice president of Capitol Pictures in early 1950s Hollywood.
"He's like the fixer, dealing with the looney bin of the movie industry," Brolin says in the video. "It's kind of amazing the debauchery that was going on during this time." (We see Tilda Swinton's character mention all the "womanizing" and "drinking.")
Mannix wants to keep actors happy, Brolin says, but he's also keeping them safe, which turns out to be a big issue in the movie when major movie star Baird Whitlock (George Clooney) gets kidnapped while in costume for the studio's movie, "Hail, Caesar!" Once again, the Coens include a ransom plot, with the studio told it must pay $100,000 or it's curtains for Whitlock. No funny stuff!
So that's what Brolin's character will have to fix in the movie. "What's the next problem? What's the next answer? That's the movie business. That's Eddie Mannix." You can see him in action when "Hail, Caesar!" is released in theaters this Friday, February 5.
