Disney Says Marvel Movies 'Will Go On Forever' ~ amazing movies

There's good news and bad news for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Even more movies than the ones already planned for Phase 3 are coming. Unfortunately, there's no way you'll ever be able to see them all.

That's the word from Disney chairman Bob Iger, who revealed in an interview with BBC Newsbeat that the Mouse House has big plans for the "thousands" of Marvel comics characters who haven't had their chance to shine on the big screen yet (and even more in store from those audiences already know and love, like the Avengers crew). In the next three years alone, there are 11 MCU projects set to hit theaters, including more installments of "Captain America," "Thor," "Guardians of the Galaxy," and "The Avengers," as well as the introduction of new heroes like Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and the Inhumans.

It's certainly an impressive -- and daunting -- slate of projects, but according to Iger, fans haven't seen anything yet.

"Marvel, you're dealing with thousands and thousands of characters -- that will go on forever," Iger told Newsbeat of the property's future cinematic prospects.

And while the box office for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" was lower than expected, the CEO promises that audiences are still very much invested in the Marvel movie brand -- and Disney plans on giving the people what they want, in perpetuity.

"No, I don't think [moviegoers are] getting weary," Iger said. "But I think we keep raising the bar in terms of telling stories that bring them back, that excite them, that make it feel new and that is what we do for a living."

Based on Marvel's (and Disney's) past success, we wouldn't bet against them -- even (to borrow a phrase from another Disney property) to infinity, and beyond.
