Check Out the Stunning New 'Black Panther' Character Posters

Thor and co. may still be "Raganrok"-ing theaters, but today, the cast of fellow Marvel flick "Black Panther" is in the spotlight, with the release of a bunch of new character posters that highlight the heroes and villains of Wakanda.

The stunning imagery is simple yet powerful, letting each individual speak for themselves. Each poster features a close-up portrait of its subject, some of them staring down the camera lens with an intimidating glare, others looking away introspectively. All include some text to explain their relation to the story, with Black Panther's (Chadwick Boseman) blurb highlighting "His father's legacy."

That phrasing in particular plays into the plot of the film, which finds our hero, alias T'Challa, returning to his technologically advanced homeland of Wakanda after the death of his father, the king, to assume the throne. As is usually the case in stories such as these, that doesn't exactly go as planned, and our hero must rely on his countrymen and -women to help take down his enemies and restore order to the kingdom.

Check out the rest of the posters -- featuring cast members Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Forest Whitaker, Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Andy Serkis, Martin Freeman, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, and Winston Duke -- below.

"Black Panther" is due in theaters on February 16, 2018.
