Chris Evans Wants a 'Black Widow' Movie As Much as You Do

Chris Evans thinks a solo Black Widow movie would "clean up," and we can't disagree.

The Captain America star, who's out chatting up his new movie "Gifted," told Elle magazine, "It would really just clean up, wouldn't it? Scarlett [Johansson] is so good at everything she does. She's played such a crucial part in the other films. She always makes her presence so felt — even when there are 50 different superheroes running around onscreen. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens at some point in the future. I'm sure Scarlett would be open to it."

Johansson's shattered box-office expectations with 2014's "Lucy," but the whitewashing controversy over "Ghost in the Shell" is being cited as one of the reasons it's now a $60 million write-off. But a Black Widow movie still seems like a no-brainer and a guaranteed moneymaker.

Johansson's Russian spy will play a pivotal part in "Avengers: Infinity War," but is not expected to be in any other upcoming Marvel movies, including "Thor: Ragnarok," "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Black Panther."

Marvel has released its schedule up through 2019, but so far, there's no Black Widow movie. Its first female-led movie, "Captain Marvel," starring Brie Larson, comes out in 2019.

Maybe if DC's "Wonder Woman" slays at the box office, Marvel will finally give a Black Widow movie the green light. The closest thing we've gotten was this "SNL" skit that dropped the kickass heroine into a typical romcom.

But back to Evans: In the Elle article, he also talks about studying with a guru in India, how he's always up for hugging his exes, and "putting a banana in his butt" for "Not Another Teen Movie."
