And that's not all: Dick Van Dyke, who played Poppins's sidekick, a chimney sweep named Bert, is also allegedly set for a small role, too.

But cameos from Andrews and Van Dyke would both make perfect sense, and be a great tribute to the original flick, and we do hope they somehow materialize. There's plenty of time for producers to reach out to the legendary actors, since according to E!, the script isn't finished yet, and the flick isn't due to hit theaters for another two years.
If they do join the ensemble, Andrews and Van Dyke would be in good company: Emily Blunt is set to take over the Poppins role, and Lin-Manuel Miranda will be playing a new character, a lamplighter named Jack. Meryl Streep is also rumored to be joining the cast, playing Mary's cousin, Topsy.
"Mary Poppins Returns" is due in theaters on December 25, 2018.
