'Bad Boys 3' Gets New Title and 2018 Release Date

Stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have been teasing us for more than six years now that "Bad Boys 3" is on its way, yet with each passing year, there's been no real news about its release. Sony got fans' hopes up last year when they announced 2017 release dates for not one but two sequels to the action franchise, only to see no additional details about those flicks materialize. But now, it seems that "Bad Boys 3" at the very least is finally back on track, with the studio announcing a new release date and a new title for the flick.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the threequel is now called "Bad Boys For Life," and is slated for release on January 12, 2018. That's almost a full year later than the flick's initially announced release date of February 17, 2017, but at least Sony is still updating fans on the project, which Smith had insisted as recently as this past February was still happening.

As EW notes, the new title is a reference to a line from "Bad Boys II," where Smith tells Lawrence, "We ride together, we die together. Bad boys for life."

One Bad Boy who didn't sign on for life is Michael Bay, who's sitting out the proceedings this time after directing the first two films in 1995 and 2003. Now, Joe Carnahan ("The Grey," "Smokin' Aces") will be taking the helm.

According to EW, "Bad Boys 4" is still slated to happen, and also has a new release date: July 3, 2019. It's likely to get a new title, too. Stay tuned for more intel as it becomes available.
