'Wolverine 3' Will Be Rated R, Violent, Bold, and 'Like a Western in Its Tone'

"Wolverine 3" has officially started filming, and it's going to be one badass mofo.

During press day for "X-Men: Apocalypse" in London, Fox producer Simon Kinberg confirmed that Hugh Jackman's final Wolverine film had started shooting for its 2017 release, adding (via Collider), "It's a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you've ever seen in any of these movies."

Kinberg was asked about the rumor that (Professor Charles Xavier) was co-starring in the movie, and in his non-answer he teased more details:

"I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say about that. I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It's violent, it's kind of like a western in its tone. It's just a very cool, different film."

Interesting. It was already leaked but not confirmed, until now, that "Wolverine 3" would follow "Deadpool" with an R rating. He's emphasizing how different it will be, presumably from the past two "Wolverine" films and possibly from past "X-Men" films in general. It sounds like the R may come from violence more than anything. A Western tone, though?

What do you think so far? "Wolverine 3" (which may get a different title in a bit) is being directed by , with Jackman's co-stars including , , , and . It's currently scheduled for release March 3, 2017.
